Welcome to Cross Crazy! The 2000-2001 season is here and it looks to be a great one.  From this page you'll be able to keep up with all the latest action in local(midwest), national, and international cyclo-cross racing.  I don't want to reinvent the wheel so this page will contain mostly my reports from local racing with the links taking you to the national and international scenes. 7725

Dec.11.2000 - SUPER CUP CHILLS IN CHICAGO

Epic Weather and Fast, Slippery Course Provided Memorable Racing

I'm won't go into detail about the racing or the course because it got great coverage on sites such as Cyclingnews.com, so I'll just say that Lyle, Chris, and the rest of the Super Cup crew put on a great race as always, and I hope next year's series will be back up to full speed.
    As for me, one week before Bast off my forecast didn't look bright.  I think I left my form somewhere at the third Rockford race (I must have forgot to pack in the car when we came home), and I had just gotten rid of a minor cold/flue bug.  Once I added that to a sinking morale and it came up to about 13 days off the bike, including Thanksgiving biz. of course.  So a last minute choice to race left me with a task equivalent to raising the dead.  To solve this a hard lap around the course a few minutes before the start was in order, it is just to bad that the hard lap was my warm up in its entirety.
    Well considering all of the above not getting lapped turned out to be a result to be content with.  A sure step above last years exploits.  Although I do consider myself "a survivor", as Richard Schwinn put it, and nothing more,  it's a little bit of fuel for the mythical "next year".  - happy holidays,  M.H.
